Wadi Rum Bubble Camp: Which Camp to Choose and How Much It Costs

Updated on October 23, 2026

Sleeping in a transparent bubble in the middle of the desert is the image of Wadi Rum on social media, but "bubble camp" covers very different prices and comfort. Traditional Bedouin camps cost from 20 JOD per person with dinner and breakfast; camps with air-conditioned bubbles and a private bathroom often cost 130 to over 300 USD a night per bubble. This page helps you choose. Prices come from guides and booking platforms in 2026 and are unofficial. See Wadi Rum.

Highlights

The traditional Bedouin camp

The traditional Bedouin camp

Goat-hair or canvas tents, mattresses on the floor or beds, shared meals around the fire. It is the cheapest and most authentic option.

A camp set against a cliff is more sheltered and prettier at sunset. Ask for photos of the location, not just of the bubble.

Practical info

Tips

  • Types of camp: simple Bedouin from about 20 JOD per person, dinner and breakfast included, shared bathrooms; standard camp about 25 to 45 JOD per person; luxury camp about 50 to 80 JOD per person with a private bathroom; bubble or "Martian tent" from about 35 JOD per person in a simple camp, but more like 130 to 310 USD a night for a bubble at an upscale camp (early 2026 listings), sometimes 280 to 395 USD with dinner and breakfast.
  • What to ask: does the bubble have air conditioning and heating (summer and winter), a private bathroom, reliable hot water? Are dinner and breakfast included? Are the next day's 4x4 tour, the transfer from the village and the reserve entry fee included?
  • A bubble heats up quickly in daylight, and a camp's lights reduce the view of the sky. If stars matter, choose a camp away from the village.
  • Book early in spring and autumn. The camp often picks guests up at the village, sometimes in Aqaba for 20 to 30 JOD each way. Pay by card only if the camp accepts it: bring dinars.
  • For accommodation across Jordan, see where to stay in Jordan; for the next day's tour, Wadi Rum by 4x4.

How to get there

The camp is inside the reserve: you go by 4x4 from Rum village, where most camps come to pick you up. About 1 hour from Aqaba, 1.5 to 2 hours from Petra.
