For the day-by-day route, see Jordan in 3 days and Jordan in 7 days.
Amman
Ideal for the first and last night: the airport is close and Amman's sights can be visited on foot or by taxi. A hostel bed was around 67 EUR a night in one platform example; luxury hotels such as the St. Regis are higher. Choose the centre (Al-Balad), Jabal Amman near Rainbow Street or an area near a taxi stand. See Amman.
Wadi Musa, near Petra
Hotels are a few hundred metres from the site entrance: one platform example showed 66 EUR a night 300 metres from Petra, another hotel 107 USD on a May weekend. Sleeping there lets you enter at opening time and come back for Petra by Night. See Wadi Musa and how to visit Petra.

Wadi Rum
A simple Bedouin camp costs from 20 JOD per person with dinner and breakfast; a camp with air-conditioned bubbles and a private bathroom 130 to over 300 USD a night. One platform example showed a camp at 26 EUR a night for two. Ask for air conditioning (summer), heating (winter) and the 4x4 tour included. See the bubble camp and which tour and camp to choose.

Dead Sea
The resorts are on the east shore, about an hour from Amman: Kempinski Ishtar, Hilton and Marriott are examples cited by guides. Sleeping at the resort costs clearly more than the day alone; a hotel day pass runs from about 20 to 75 JOD (see the hotel day pass). If you are in a hurry, a night in Amman and an excursion to the Dead Sea are enough. See the Dead Sea.
Aqaba
Beach hotels and resorts (Hyatt Regency Ayla, InterContinental); a town hotel showed around 144 EUR a night in one platform example. One night allows a boat or diving trip: see Aqaba.
