November at a glance

Wadi Rum camp at dusk

Petra in November

It is a very good period: mild temperatures and fewer people than in spring. Days are short (opening 6:30 am, closing 5 pm): arrive at opening. If rain is forecast, be careful: the Siq can close when flooding is a risk. The Petra by Night evening runs Sunday to Thursday at 8:30 pm; bring a jacket. See how to visit Petra and the Jordan Pass.

Desert, Dead Sea and north

At Wadi Rum, days are ideal but nights cool noticeably: bring warm layers if you sleep in a tent, or choose a bubble camp. The Dead Sea and Aqaba are pleasant. Amman and Jerash are good on foot.

What to do in November

  • Petra for a full day, with Little Petra if you have time.
  • Wadi Rum by jeep or a night in camp, see which Wadi Rum tour.
  • Dead Sea to float, before winter cools the air.
  • Hiking at Dana or in the north.
