Almost all tours of Jordan start in Amman and run the same loop: Petra, Wadi Rum and the Dead Sea, plus Jerash, Madaba and Mount Nebo if the length allows. The choice comes down to the length (3 to 8 days), the type of tour (group, private with a driver, or a rental car) and what the price includes. The prices below come from operator listings checked in October 2026; they are "from" prices, per person, excluding flights, and vary with the season, the number of travellers and the rooms.
Highlights

The night in Wadi Rum
Almost every tour of 3 days or more includes a night in a desert camp, with a 4x4 and a Bedouin dinner. It is often the best memory of the trip.
Petra, with time
A 3-day tour usually leaves only half a day at Petra; from 4 days there is a full day or two. See Petra and how to visit Petra.
Practical info
Tips
- Choosing the length: 3 days for Petra, Wadi Rum and the Dead Sea, very tight (see Jordan in 3 days); 4 days to get a real day at Petra (listings from about 830 to 980 USD per person); 6 to 7 days to add Jerash, Ajloun, Madaba, Dana or the Kings' Highway (from about 1,075 to 1,145 USD); 8 days to go without rushing, with a night at Aqaba or on the Dead Sea (see Jordan in 7 days).
- Group, private or rental car: a group tour costs the least and is shared with other travellers; a private tour with a driver is more flexible (expect to pay clearly more, especially for two); with a rental car you handle everything yourself: see car rental in Jordan and private driver.
- Check what the price includes: hotels (category and number of nights), meals, airport transfers, an English-speaking guide or other, 4x4 tours at Wadi Rum, and above all entry fees: often your responsibility, which makes the Jordan Pass useful. Frequent extras: Petra by Night (listed at 15 USD on one tour), a buggy in the Siq (about 25 USD per person one way according to a listing), tips and drinks.
- For the night at Wadi Rum, see the bubble camp; for swimming, the Dead Sea day pass.
- Read recent reviews, check that the agency is registered in Jordan, and avoid paying everything in cash in advance.
